For your important info/awareness, we are still in slow process of developing the draft format/structure and by-laws on the new founding board of the “CD55+G - new and

independent association name of a possible - tentative name:

 

(English) Canada Deaf Seniors Games Association  (CDSGA)

 

(French) Association des Jeux Seniors des Sourds du Canada (AJSSC)


 

(subject to a formal search and approval) to oversee the National level - Canada Deaf 55+ Games and 2 Regional levels -

1) Western Canada Deaf 55+ Games for 4 Western Canada Provinces

(British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and

 

2) Eastern Canada Deaf 55+ Games for 6 Provinces; Ontario, Quebec and

4 Atlantic Provinces (New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and

Newfoundland & Labrador)

 

The formal board election was held in meeting on Friday, August 18, 2017 and email messages were made to fill in 6 spots out of 8 spots for the board slate in September 2017 as follows;

 

David Mac Donald of Vancouver, British Columbia,

Elaine Schuh of Calgary, Alberta

Gilles Read of Montreal, Quebec,

Francois Pelletier of Montreal, Quebec,

Kathern Geldart of Moncton, New Brunswick

Paul (Francis) Bertin of Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

Those 2 vacant spots from Ontario will be determined during the 1st ECD55+G - 2019 meeting for their 6-year term (2017 - 2023) till the next 2nd Canada Deaf 55+ Games (every 6-year cycle) to be held tentatively in Montreal, Quebec, August 2023.

 

Donald Mc Carthy of Edmonton, AB was appointed as our official National

Commissioner for a 6-year term (2017 - 2023) by the delegates/founding board

meeting in Edmonton on August 18th, 2017. Then, they approved his appointments of

2 Deputy Commissioners as follows;

 

Stella Stewart of Stony Plain, AB as Deputy Commissioner of 

Western Canada Deaf 55+ Games (2017 - 23)

 

and

 

Jacques Custeau of Trois Rivieres, Quebec as Deputy Commissioner of

Eastern Canada Deaf 55+ Games (2017 - 19).

 

Stella, Jacques and I are really excited and very pleased to inform you all about the

active progress of 2 upcoming Regional Games - Summer 2019 as follows;  

 

a) 4th Western Canada Deaf 55+ Games in Saskatoon, SK in late July 2019 and our 2 Co-Chairpersons:

Both host executive committees have been in regular contacts with all of us including their progress reports of host planning so forth.  We are expecting that there will be a formal public news announcement about their respective hosts on flyers - registration forms for participants and fans/supporters in the fall 2018.


 

What is more, we are also sincerely appreciated to know in advance that CAD - Calgary Association of the Deaf and its Seniors Club already confirmed to approve the names of Shelly Bernhardt and Werner Pilz as 2 Co-Chairpersons of the 5th Western Canada Deaf 55+ Games to be held tentatively in Calgary, Alberta, Summer 2021.
